Note From Your Publisher

By Betty Sanchez/Macaroni Kid Yuba-Sutter March 13, 2020

Hi Moms and Dads,

I just want to write this note to let you know that events and circumstances are changing rapidly amidst the evolving news of COVID-19 health concerns and recommendations. I will do my best to note in the online events calendar where events have been canceled, but just as good practice- check with the host or venue directly by checking their websites for updates or checking their social media pages. Please note that the following organizations and business are cancelling events for the month of March:

Yuba Sutter Arts is canceling or rescheduling all the events programmed to take place at the gallery or the theater until March 31, 2020; other events taking place off site will continue as planned.

Sutter County Library is canceling all public programs until March 31, 2020.

Sperbeck's Nursery & Landscape announced that their Free Children's Story time in the Garden, scheduled for March 13 at 10:00, am, and March 27 are canceled.

National Public Radio created a comic Just For Kids: A Comic Exploring The New Coronavirus to make it easier for children to understand the coronavirus.

There is fun video you can watch with your kids to explain the importance of washing hands to prevent the spreading of germs and viruses and how to do it properly. https://youtu.be/2eqhw6yZk-c

Get the most updated information from CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) on the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Stay alert for local updates and most importantly, have a plan for alternative childcare in the event that the schools from our district cancel classes. Discuss the issue as a family, not only the importance of practicing good hygiene but what to do in the event that any of the family members feel sick.

It is vital to take precautions, but as much as possible, do not disrupt your routine. Children need consistency and reassurance. Be informed and stay calm.

Stay safe dear subscribers!
