My twelve-year-old son uses most of his free time building a city with Lego pieces, so this week while visiting Southern California, I surprised him by taking him to LEGOLAND. On Thursday afternoon my two younger sons and I, headed out to LEGOLAND; it was a cold day, but the excitement and anticipation made us oblivious to the weather.
Since traveling is one of my passions, my first option when arriving at the park was to get a ride in a Coast Cruise to tour Miniland USA; thousands and thousands of Legos were used to build the Taj Mahal, the London Eye and Big Ben, the Empire State building, the Rushmore Mountain, the Golden Bridge, and many other iconic structures.
After the Coast Cruise, we went to the Imagination Zone to test our skills in the AQUAZONE® WAVE RACER dodging the water blasts, but we were not successful; we ended up wet, but what it matters is, that we had fun.
In the same area, we found the LEGO® TECHNIC COASTER, my children insisted that I get on, but I escaped doing so with the pretext of taking pictures of them. A roller coaster that spins, falls and rises unexpectedly makes me dizzy, but my children seemed to enjoy it greatly. We walked to Castle Hill, and climbed into THE DRAGON, another roller coaster, which rises and falls causing laughter and shouts of fear and emotion combined.
While taking a break, the three of us agreed to visit LEGO® CITY: Deep Sea Adventure; we boarded a submarine and dive underwater; before us, there was a beautiful spectacle with sea creatures, colorful fishes, stingrays, sharks and other marine creatures, as well as Lego models. There is a touch screen at each porthole for an interactive treasure hunt; we found jewels and gold coins.
My kids slide down the Dune Raiders, and then, we rushed to enjoy the short film 4D LEGO® CITY 4D - OFFICER IN PURSUIT; this was my first 4D experience, I must add that it was one of the activities that I enjoyed the most because of the special effects, the sounds, the images, the water mist, the bubbles, the lasers, and the smoke made the chase more vivid and entertaining.
It was a fun afternoon, but we couldn't go home without taking a souvenir of our visit, Big Shop was the place to be; we had the opportunity to admire the LEGO® Technic Bugatti Chiron, a real-size model that was built with more than one million Lego elements, it is drivable, it can fit two passengers and has the capacity of going over 30km/h. A really impressive model!
Due to limited time, we had some areas left to visit, so we will return on another occasion planning to stay longer; overall our visit to LEGOLAND was an amazing experience, my children and I recommend this wonderful and magical world that has activities for different interests and ages.
