Meet Your New Yuba-Sutter Macaroni Kid Publisher

By Betty Sanchez August 2, 2019

Hi Moms and Dads from Yuba and Sutter Counties! I am excited to introduce myself to you. My name is Betty Sanchez, your new Macaroni Kid Yuba-Sutter Publisher. I have been living in this area for the past 27 years; I enjoy traveling to different countries, but I also enjoyed the pace and dynamics of this community: I raised my children here, I was a teacher and family educator for a decade, and currently I work with a non-profit organization (E Center Head Start Programs) that serves hundreds of families with children 0-5 in 8 different counties, including Yuba and Sutter.

As your publisher I am going to use my knowledge of this community, and its agencies and programs to connect you to your family fun. As a mom of an eleven year old, I often look for activities for him that are free or low cost, but also fun to do; my family and I will benefit along with you from the many family-oriented events happening right here, in our area.

The phrase, “there is nothing to do in this town” doesn’t apply to our community; check out the many events planned for the next days, art and crafts, picking and tasting produce at the Artisan Community Garden, free admission for children at the Yuba Sutter Fair, National Night Out in different locations, a musical at the Acting Company, an activity for children at Home Depot,  a book sale at the Sutter County Library, as well as farmers markets, art exhibitions, and many other activities.

Personally, as an amateur photographer, I am always looking for interesting places to visit, such as Gray Lodge, the Sutter Buttes, the Sutter National Wildlife refuge, the sunflower fields, the orchards during spring and fall as well as chasing sunrises and sunsets. I enjoy drinking coffee in local cafes and bakeries, finding bookstores, vintage clothing, and antique shops. I will share my adventures with you, my discoveries, and visits to businesses, programs, workshops, and events in our area.

As a subscriber, you are going to receive a newsletter every Friday with articles on parenting, gardening, health and nutrition, art, and other themes; if you are interested in a particular topic, a specific place, or local business, send me a message and I will research it for you.

If you have an event that you want on the Macaroni Calendar feel free to post it here.  Share the calendar events with your family and friends, and invite them to subscribe to my newsletter. From now on, I will be in the lookout for activities for you and your children, or events for adult’s night out, or ME time.

Stay hydrated. Until next Friday dear subscribers!
